        PlayerHater is a platform for sharing and discovering real dating experiences. Because the nature of our service involves personal stories and identity information, we take privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you control it.
    

1. Who We Are

Beacon Light Investments, LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the PlayerHater mobile application and website (collectively, "the Service"). Questions about this policy can be directed to privacy@playerhater.app.

2. Information We Collect

Account and Identity

Phone number — collected at registration and used as your primary identity for SMS verification via Twilio.
Email address — collected when you sign in with Google or Apple.
Display name — the name shown on your profile and content.
Profile photo — an image you upload to represent your account.
Birthdate — collected to verify you are 18 or older. Not displayed publicly.

Location

Precise location — latitude and longitude (device GPS precision) collected when you submit an experience or browse experiences near you. You can deny location permission and still use the app with reduced functionality.

User-Generated Content

Dating experiences and stories you submit
Comments and replies
Photos or files attached to experiences
Ratings and feedback you provide

Search and Activity

Search history — queries you enter in the app are saved to your account so you can revisit recent searches. You can clear this at any time from Privacy Settings.
Pages and features you interact with

Payments

Payment information — processed through Square's in-app payment SDK. Card details are tokenized by Square; we store only a payment token, transaction ID, and purchase history (e.g., which Reveal Packs you purchased).

Device and Technical

Device ID — a stable identifier tied to your device, used for app integrity verification (Apple App Attest on iOS, Google Play Integrity on Android) to confirm requests originate from genuine, unmodified app installs.
Device type, operating system, and app version
IP address and network information

3. How We Use Your Information

Provide the Service — account creation, authentication, displaying experiences, search, and community features.
Verify identity and prevent fraud — SMS verification, device integrity checks, trust scoring.
Content moderation — AI-assisted review of submitted experiences and community moderator review to enforce our Community Guidelines.
Personalization — filtering search results and content based on your preferences including campus mode.
Process payments — fulfilling Reveal Pack purchases and managing your purchase history.
Communications — SMS verification codes, push notifications (with your permission), and email updates about the Service.
Safety and compliance — detecting abuse, enforcing our Terms of Service, and responding to legal requests.
Service improvement — understanding how features are used to improve the product.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Publicly Visible by Default

The following information is visible to other users of the Service:

Your display name and profile photo
Experiences you choose to submit and publish
Comments and replies you post

What Is Never Shared

Your phone number, email address, or birthdate are never displayed to other users.
Your LGBTQIA+ identity is never displayed publicly or shared with third parties for advertising.
We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

Service Providers

We share data with trusted vendors who process it only to provide services on our behalf:

Twilio — SMS verification and messaging
Square — payment processing
Apple — Sign in with Apple authentication; App Attest device integrity
Google — Google OAuth authentication; Play Integrity API; Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications
DigitalOcean — cloud hosting and infrastructure

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PlayerHater, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If Beacon Light Investments, LLC is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Security

All data is transmitted over TLS (HTTPS).
Passwords and sensitive tokens are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Device integrity is verified on each session using Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity.
Access to production data is restricted on a need-to-know basis.

No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@playerhater.app.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account:

Your profile, experiences, and personal data are deleted within 30 days.
Some information may be retained longer where required by law or for fraud prevention purposes.
Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Access — you can view your profile and content within the app at any time.
Update — edit your display name, photo, and preferences in Profile Settings.
Delete — delete your account and associated data from Privacy Settings.
Search history — clear your search history at any time from Privacy Settings.
Location — revoke location permission in your device's system settings at any time.
Push notifications — manage notification preferences in your device's system settings.
Data portability — to request an export of your data, contact privacy@playerhater.app.

8. Cookies and Tracking

The PlayerHater website uses session cookies for authentication and CSRF protection only. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. The mobile app does not use cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

PlayerHater is strictly for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at privacy@playerhater.app and we will delete the account immediately.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have the right to:

Know what personal information we collect about them and how it is used and shared
Delete personal information we have collected
Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
Non-discrimination for exercising these rights

11. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored and processed in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy here and, where appropriate, sending a notification through the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
